Tara R. FOX, DNP, CPNP

Dr. Tara is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) with a Baccalaureate of Science in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech, an RN and Master’s of Science degree in Pediatric Primary Care from Vanderbilt University, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) focusing on leadership, education, and developing better screening tools for post-infectious syndromes from Georgetown University.

Her first six years of practice were spent working as a Pediatric NP in close capacity with an Infectious Disease physician, specifically focusing on post-infectious syndromes and treatment. She also spent time working at KidMed, a pediatric after-hours clinic offering urgent and emergent care, where she was able to take on leadership roles, focus on refining her clinical skills, and learn the “ins and outs” of practice ownership. Although she has extensive experience treating children of all ages and abilities, she regularly consults with the University of Arizona Children’s Postinfectious Autoimmune Encephalopathy Center to implement better identification, practice, and treatment of children diagnosed with PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome), PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infection), and other forms of encephalitis. Although there is much to learn in this area of medicine, she is dedicated to improving outcomes for these vulnerable patients. She continues to publish and lecture on the subject matter.

She is currently based in Indianapolis but sees patients from across the country. She is excited to be collaborating with Excell for Life, a multi-disciplinary clinic that shares the same values, mission, and approach to health care as well as holds an Assistant Professor position at Marian University.
